Jamie was born and raised in Breese Illinois, an adorable small town tucked away between cornfields and dairy farms. Small town life requires you to find ways to entertain yourself so she spent a lot of time drawing and coloring with the encouragement from her mother. At the age of 5, Jamie won her first art competition and her drawing of Mickey was featured on the Disney Channel's Saturday morning cartoons.
Through out the years she has entered and won several art contests from Halloween posters, local ad campaigns to cover art for the Southern IL Instructional Television Association (SIITA). As she got older her desire to create only grew stronger and she eventually went to college to become an art teacher, but after taking her first oil painting class in 2009 she realized she was a painter, changed majors to Fine Arts with an emphasis in Painting and never looked back.
When she was just starting to paint her father told her that he was convinced that artists see things differently. This solidified the idea of becoming an artist was her destiny and sharing her vision with the world would be her life goal. This has not been an easy road for Jamie but her passion for art would not let her give up on her dreams.
The path to becoming an artist is not layed out like becoming an accountant or a lawyer. She was forced to really dive into what art meant to her and ask herself what could she give to the world that no one else could. And she realized that was herself. Thru the mixing of colors, subject matter and the way she applies the paint all reflects her personality, dedication, and the emotion she felt in the moment that scene was first discovered by her eyes and then transformed into her vision, the painting.
By the end of 2021, she had a painting studio built in her backyard and made her art making a priority in her life. She is in constant search of awe and wonder and always planning her next adventure to inspire her work. Follow Jamie to Italy on her next adventure in March! She will be on a three-month full-immersion artist residency! Support her journey by purchasing originals and prints from this website, or a supporting gallery and hanging them in your home!!!
